Blocked Toilets
A pan that gurgles, fills or threatens to overflow gets unblocked from the trap outward, and the blocked toilet service puts the busiest fixture in the house back to work.
Every drain job Local Kedron Blocked Drains takes on in Kedron sits somewhere on this page: blocked toilets, blocked sewers, stormwater drains, drain cleaning, CCTV camera checks and pipe repairs, with the price settled before anyone picks up a tool.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill

Drain work comes down to three moves: work out what is causing the trouble, shift the blockage, and mend whatever pipe is broken underneath it. The six services below split those moves into the calls we actually get, so you can point at the right one before you ring.
Each of the six services answers one kind of call, and each page explains its own job in full:

A pan that gurgles, fills or threatens to overflow gets unblocked from the trap outward, and the blocked toilet service puts the busiest fixture in the house back to work.

Sewage smells near the gullies, or every drain in the place losing speed together, point to the house sewer, and that line gets traced right out to the boundary.

Downpour water pooling against the footings, or a yard pit that will not empty, gets the roof and surface water shifted away from the house instead of up against it.

Sinks, shower wastes and laundry floors that lose a little speed every week get scoured back to bare pipe with jet blasting or an electric eel, one fixture at a time.

A drain that blocks again no matter how often it gets cleared needs eyes on the cause, and a CCTV inspection shows both what it is and where.

Split, root-riddled or sunken pipe gets replaced by digging or relined in place, and the repair shuts the door on whatever kept reopening the line at the broken stretch.

Three things about this suburb shape most of the drain work we do here:
The streets opened up along the tram lines of the 1910s and 1925, and the house drains of those years are earthenware laid piece to piece, so a line that old hands roots a fresh joint to work at every metre or so.
The estate blocks on the rises do not hold rain for long: water runs over the shallow Brisbane tuff soils instead of soaking in, and it reaches the pits and gutters downhill in a hurry.
The bunya pines on the Gympie Road frontage of Lutwyche Cemetery date from the suburb's earliest decades, and the garden trees behind them have had just as long to push roots toward those old joints.
Put together, that makes a suburb where clearing a line and keeping it clear are two different jobs, and the second one usually means repairs.

Most calls land on one of three paths, and knowing which saves a step:
when one fixture runs slow and the rest keep pace. That is usually a local build-up of hair, fat or soap, and scouring that stretch puts things right without touching the rest of the line.
when the same drain keeps reblocking, or the whole house loses speed together. Spending on clears without knowing the cause wastes your money, and the inspection ends the guessing.
when the camera shows a cracked, sunken or root-filled stretch. Replacing or relining that section closes the problem where it starts.
None of the three is a guess, and Local Kedron Blocked Drains tells you which path you are on before any work begins.

What blocks a drain depends a lot on when the place went up:
weatherboard and brick homes from the interwar and early postwar years, many of them inside Brisbane's pre-1947 dwelling character overlay, run earthenware drains under mature gardens, and some still carry galvanised supply lines that scale up and choke flow.
flats and apartments made up 30.0 percent of the suburb's 3999 dwellings at the last census, and shared lines mean the trouble sometimes starts in a neighbour's laundry before it ever shows in yours.
work from the 2000s onward brought PVC drains and deeper stormwater design, though the street trees planted with them are only now reaching down to the joints.

Three things carry most of the figure on a drain job, and you hear all three before work begins:
whether the line sits under concrete, a driveway or a garden bed, and how deep anyone would have to dig to reach it.
its material and condition, since shifted earthenware joints take longer to clear and longer to mend than sound PVC.
fat and wipes, roots or a collapsed stretch each need different work, and a camera check is sometimes the only way to pin the cause down first.
Blocked drains do not stop at the suburb boundary, and neither does the round: Chermside, Wavell Heights, Kalinga, Lutwyche and Gordon Park all sit on the same run, each with its own page of local detail.
That gurgle is air shoving back through the water trap, which usually means a restriction further down the line, so a clean-out of the pipe comes first. If the noise comes back, a camera pass says whether a root-damaged joint sits behind it.
Not every time, but a repair lands smarter with one. The camera shows the damaged stretch and its position along the run, so the dig or the reline targets the broken metres instead of the whole line.
A pit inside your boundary is yours to keep draining, and that is our work. When the brook is standing above the outlet, no amount of clearing helps, and we would tell you so before taking the job.
Shared lines serve several homes, so the fault does not always start inside yours. The clearing and the mending are the same; a common laundry or a body corporate approval can just add a step.
Card and EFTPOS both work when the job is done and you have watched the water run. Because the figure was agreed before we started, nothing gets bolted on at the end.
